Use Bitnami Cloud Tools for Microsoft Azure

Introduction

The Bitnami Cloud Tools for Microsoft Azure is a set of tools packaged together with preconfigured Python language runtime to work out of the box. To use them, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Load the environment

Assuming you already have an Azure account, the next step after installation is to load the environment.

Linux and Mac OS X

Execute the azure-shell.sh script from the installation directory, as shown below:

$ ./azure-shell.sh

Windows

Execute the azure-cmd.bat script from the installation directory, as shown below:

$ azure-cmd.bat

Step 2: Add account credentials

The next step is to add your Azure credentials. Follow these steps:

  • Execute the command below:

     $ azure account download
    

    This will launch your Web browser and redirect you to the Microsoft Azure website.

  • Log in if needed. The system will generate a .publishsettings file which you'll be prompted to download through your browser.

  • Import your Azure account by executing the command below, replacing the FILE placeholder with the path to the downloaded .publishsettings file:

    $ azure account import FILE

Step 3: Execute commands

Use the Bitnami Cloud Tools for Microsoft Azure by executing the necessary commands at the command line. Use the command azure help for a complete list of available commands and options.

For example, to display a list of available services, use the azure service list command:
