Install plugins

Before running the commands shown on this page, you should load the Bitnami stack environment by executing the installdir/use_APPNAME script (Linux and MacOS) or by clicking the shortcut in the Start Menu under “Start -> Bitnami APPNAME Stack -> Application console” (Windows). On OS X VMs, the installation directory is /opt/bitnami and OS X VM users can click the “Open Terminal” button to run commands. Learn more about the Bitnami stack environment and about OS X VMs.

NOTE: In previous versions of Pimcore, a plugin system allowed you to hook into the system to add custom functionalities. Starting with Pimcore 5, the plugin system was replaced by native Symfony bundles. For more information, refer to the official documentation.

To install a plugin on Pimcore 4.6.x or lower, follow these steps:

  • Edit the installdir/apps/pimcore/htdocs//composer.json file and add the following lines at the end (once):

      "config": {
              "document-root-path": "./"
  • Edit the section require adding a new line for each plugin to install (don’t forget to add a comma at the end of the previous plugin lines):

      "require": {
              [other plugins],
              "pimcore/example-areabrick": ">=1"
  • Run composer with the following command (while in the installdir/apps/pimcore/htdocs/ directory):

      $ sudo installdir/php/bin/php installdir/php/bin/composer.phar install
  • Access the Pimcore administration panel and navigate to the “Extras -> Extensions” menu. You should see all installed plugins and you can enable/disable them.

    Plugins configuration
