Before running the commands shown on this page, you should load the Bitnami stack environment by executing the installdir/use_APPNAME script (Linux and MacOS) or by clicking the shortcut in the Start Menu under “Start -> Bitnami APPNAME Stack -> Application console” (Windows). On OS X VMs, the installation directory is /opt/bitnami and OS X VM users can click the “Open Terminal” button to run commands. Learn more about the Bitnami stack environment and about OS X VMs.

ownCloud provides several tips to improve application performance when you access the admin panel.

  • Tips or errors related to memory cache, such as the example message below:

      No memory cache has been configured. To enhance performance, please configure a memcache, if available. Further information can be found in the documentation.
    

    ownCloud recommends configuring memory-based cache. It improves performance by storing data, code, and other objects in memory. Find out more.

  • Tips or errors related to file locking, such as the example message below:

      Transactional file locking should be configured to use memory-based locking, not the default slow database-based locking. See the documentation for more information.
    

    To configure memory-based transactional file locking, set up memory-based cache (refer to the previous point). See the documentation for more information.

  • Tips or errors related to HTTP access, such as the example message below:

      You are accessing this site via HTTP. We strongly suggest you configure your server to require using HTTPS instead as described in our security tips.
