Connect to Redis from a different machine

Before running the commands shown on this page, you should load the Bitnami stack environment by executing the installdir/use_APPNAME script (Linux and MacOS) or by clicking the shortcut in the Start Menu under “Start -> Bitnami APPNAME Stack -> Application console” (Windows). On OS X VMs, the installation directory is /opt/bitnami and OS X VM users can click the “Open Terminal” button to run commands. Learn more about the Bitnami stack environment and about OS X VMs.

IMPORTANT: Bitnami Native Installers do not modify the firewall configuration of your computer, therefore the Discourse® ports could be open which is a significant security risk. You are strongly advised to close the Discourse® ports (refer to the FAQ for more information on this).

Once you have an active SSH tunnel or if you did not close the port for remote access, you can then connect to Redis using a command like the one below. Replace the YOURPASSWORD placeholder with the value of your password:

$ redis-cli -h localhost -a YOURPASSWORD
