How to enable new AWS Region

AWS has changed the policy for managing new regions on its platform. From now on, whenever AWS adds a new region to its platform, users must manually enable it to start using that region.

When creating a new server in the Bitnami Cloud Hosting console you might get a validation error saying that the region is not supported. This means that the region selected is not available in your AWS account. In order to enable it, please follow these instructions:

NOTE: for performing the steps described below you need administration permissions on the AWS account.

  • Access to the AWS Console and log in using your credentials.
  • On the top right corner, click the “IAM name and account” link to display the dropdown menu. Select “My Account”.
  • In the resulting page, search for the “AWS Regions” section and enable the desired region.
