Configure SMTP for outbound emails

Follow these steps:

  • Navigate to the “Settings -> Email configuration -> Email SMTP” menu and configure the settings for your email provider.

    Zurmo mail configuration

    Here is an example of using a Gmail account. Replace USERNAME and PASSWORD with your Gmail account username and password respectively.

    Host: smtp.gmail.com
    Port: 587
    Username: USERNAME@gmail.com
    Password: PASSWORD
    Extra Mail Settings: tls (lower case)

    Note that each account has its own email configuration. You may need to also change the “From” address in the “My Profile -> Configuration -> Email” form to match the one in the SMTP settings to avoid the emails being marked as spam. You can also configure SMTP settings for each account in this section if needed.

  • Configure the Job Manager in the system cron to send emails. You must include the tasks “Monitor” and “ProcessOutboundEmail”. Add the following lines to the /etc/crontab file:

    */5 * * * * daemon cd /opt/bitnami/apps/zurmo/htdocs/app/protected/commands; /opt/bitnami/php/bin/php ./zurmoc jobManager user Monitor

    */1 * * * * daemon cd /opt/bitnami/apps/zurmo/htdocs/app/protected/commands; /opt/bitnami/php/bin/php ./zurmoc jobManager user ProcessOutboundEmail

    For more information, refer to the Zurmo wiki.

To configure the application to use other third-party SMTP services for outgoing email, such as SendGrid or Mandrill, refer to the FAQ.

NOTE: If you are using Gmail as the outbound email server and have experienced issues trying to send emails correctly, check the Gmail SMTP troubleshooting page to learn the causes of these issues and how to solve them.
