Configure SMTP for outbound emails

To configure outbound email, follow these steps:

  • Log in to the application as an administrator.

  • Open the ReportServer Enterprise terminal by pressing: Ctrl+Alt+T (control+option+T in Mac OS X).

  • Type the following command:

    $ editTextFile fileserver/etc/mail/

  • Enter details for the SMTP server to be used for outbound email. For example, to configure a Gmail account, you could use the settings below. Replace USERNAME and PASSWORD with your Gmail account username and password respectively.

    • SMTP Server - ssl://
    • SMTP port - 465
    • SSL tag - true
    • SMTP Username -
    • SMTP Password - PASSWORD
    • Modify the sender at your convenience.

    Email configuration

  • Click “Submit” to save your changes.

  • Restart Tomcat:

    $ /opt/bitnami/ restart tomcat
  • Log in to the application again.
