Configure SMTP for outbound emails
You just need to edit the settings file at /opt/bitnami/apps/pootle/etc/pootle/localsettings.py. Uncomment the EMAIL_* parameters and set the values for your SMTP server. For example, you can use a Gmail account to send the outgoing emails as follows. Replace USERNAME and PASSWORD with your Gmail account username and password respectively.
#Mail settings # Address used for messages sent by Pootle. DEFAULT_FROM_EMAIL = 'USERNAME@gmail.com' # Mail server settings # By default Pootle uses SMTP server on localhost, if the server is # not configured for sending emails use these settings to setup an # external outgoing SMTP server. # Example for Google as an external SMTP server EMAIL_HOST_USER = 'USERNAME@gmail.com' EMAIL_HOST_PASSWORD = 'PASSWORD' EMAIL_HOST = 'smtp.gmail.com' EMAIL_PORT = 587 EMAIL_USE_TLS = True
To configure the application to use other third-party SMTP services for outgoing email, such as SendGrid, refer to the FAQ.
NOTE: If you are using Gmail as the outbound email server and have experienced issues trying to send emails correctly, check the Gmail SMTP troubleshooting page to learn the causes of these issues and how to solve them.
