Modify the interface language

NOTE: We are in the process of modifying the file structure and configuration for many Bitnami stacks. On account of these changes, the file paths stated in this guide may change depending on whether your Bitnami stack uses native Linux system packages (Approach A), or if it is a self-contained installation (Approach B). To identify your Bitnami installation type and what approach to follow, run the command below:

 $ test ! -f "/opt/bitnami/common/bin/openssl" && echo "Approach A: Using system packages." || echo "Approach B: Self-contained installation."

The output of the command indicates which approach (A or B) is used by the installation, and will allow you to identify the paths, configuration and commands to use in this guide. Refer to the FAQ for more information on these changes.

By default, MyBB uses English as its default language, but you can download and install other languages, such as Spanish or Chinese, for example. To download a language pack, browse MyBB’s official site for language packs at http://community.mybb.com/mods.php?action=browse&category=19

To install a language pack, follow these steps:

  • Download and decompress the images/ and inc/ folders at the MyBB installation directory (or you could simply decompress everything and then remove the whole installation’s directory).

NOTE: Depending on your installation type, the MyBB installation directory can be found in the following locations:

  • Approach A (Bitnami installations using system packages): /opt/bitnami/mybb/
  • Approach B (Self-contained Bitnami installations): /opt/bitnami/apps/mybb/htdocs/
  • To change your MyBB Board’s default language, enter the Administration Control Panel and navigate to “Configuration -> General Configuration”, then change the default language to the one you just installed:

  • To change your MyBB AdminCP’s language, navigate to “Configuration -> Control Panel Preferences (Global)” and change the language to the one you just installed:
